Originally from Thorold, David attended schools there, then attained his Education Degrees at Brock University. After almost two decades as a teacher, David left his teaching position on Canadian Forces Base Borden in Angus to return to the Niagara Region, to begin the new century with a new career.
Mr. Devine believes it is important to be involved in, and give back to the community. David has been the Safety Officer of the Niagara Region Civil Air Rescue Emergency Services (C.A.R.E.S.), an arm of the Civil Air Search And Rescue Association (C.A.S.A.R.A.). He has also been the School Parent Committee Chairman at his son's school, a lifetime member of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, and a Eucharistic Minister at his local parish. David is the current Captain of COPA Flight 149, an organization of those interested in the development and preservation of flying and airports in Canada. He was also the media / PR coordinator for the Niagara Central Airport Aviation Day featuring the Canadian Forces Snowbirds.
David's father, the late Frank Devine of Thorold, was the Captain of a Handley Page Halifax, a four engine heavy bomber which saw action in WWII. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (D.F.C.) for his heroism. (The only remaining Halifax in the world, found at the bottom of a lake in Holland, has now completed its restoration at the Canadian Forces Museum in Trenton, and is on display in its new hangar. The official unveiling was November, 2005. You owe it to yourself to visit this rare piece of Canadian history.)
